Our Vision

To be recognised as well informed, collaborative and innovative in our leadership of the WA public sector.


Our Purpose

We lead the public sector in providing whole-of-Government advice and support to the Premier and Cabinet, in their service of the Western Australian community.

Our Goals and Deliverables

Supporting the Premier and Cabinet

  • Deliver quality and timely services to support the administration of Government.
  • Continue to provide high quality, impartial and timely advice on Cabinet submissions, and work with other Departments and Ministers offices to ensure Cabinet is clearly briefed and its time is effectively used on strategic priorities.

Public Sector Stewardship and Reform

  • Provide stewardship to the public sector, and co-ordinate and deliver on Government’s public sector reforms in collaboration with central agencies.
  • Continue to participate in the Expenditure Review Committee and work closely with Treasury to deliver on the Government’s Budget objectives and identify new savings opportunities across the sector and within DPC.
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of public sector reforms, together with Finance, Treasury and the Public Sector Commission.

Working with the Commonwealth

  • Strengthen relations, work co-operatively, and lead the WA public sector in engagement with the Commonwealth Government on key inter-jurisdictional matters, including promoting Western Australian interests.
  • Work co-operatively with the Commonwealth on counter terrorism and security.
  • Position WA on national partnership agreements to mitigate financial risks.
  • Promote Commonwealth funding opportunities in Western Australia. 

 Driving Digital Transformation

  • Support the Minister for Innovation and ICT through delivery of the Digital Government agenda.
  • Improve delivery of online services to the Western Australian community.
  • Implement higher cyber security standards across Government.
  • Develop policy and strategy to support a culture of data sharing.
  • Build data analytics capabilities within the WA public sector to underpin good policy development and better targeted service delivery.
  • Support the implementation of information technology procurement reforms across the sector.

Supporting Aboriginal Economic and Social Advancement

  • Support the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs by providing leadership and advice on Aboriginal policy and delivering native title and other recognition outcomes.
  • Provide advice on Aboriginal policy and deliver native title and other recognition outcomes.
  • Work with Departments and agencies on improved outcomes for Aboriginal people through coordinated service delivery.
  • Support the WA Aboriginal Advisory Committee and Chair the Directors co-ordinating committee on Aboriginal affairs.

Influencing Economic and Social Development

  • Provide policy advice, support and leadership on strategic, complex and whole-of-Government matters and deliver on Government’s priorities.
  • Continue to provide high quality, impartial and timely advice on Cabinet submissions, and work with other Departments and Ministers offices to ensure Cabinet is clearly briefed and its time is effectively used on strategic priorities.
  • Provide economic and social policy advice and support on strategic, complex and whole-of-Government matters.
  • Provide coordination and oversight of infrastructure and major projects, including policy advice and support on strategic, complex and whole-of-Government matters.

Building organisational capability

  • Support a high performing and responsive workforce.
  • Continue to implement the DPC Improvement Plan, including recommendations of our working groups on red tape; internal communication; training and development; values and behaviours. 
  • Promote the uptake of My Plan to better support our individual performance and development planning.
