The Federal-State Relations Unit is part of the Policy and Reform division and leads Western Australia's engagement with the Commonwealth and other States and Territories to:

  • strengthen the Western Australian Government's inter-jurisdictional relationships;
  • drive collaboration across Western Australian Government on WA's Federal-State policy priorities;
  • achieve better outcomes for Western Australians in relation to WA's Federal-State policy priorities; and
  • coordinate Commonwealth-State arrangements for WA to provide services to the Indian Ocean Territories.

The Federal-State Relations Unit coordinates WA's involvement in the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) and the Council for the Australian Federation (CAF).

Acknowledgement of Country

The Government of Western Australia acknowledges the traditional custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures; and to Elders both past and present.
