Graduate Development Program
About our program
General Overview
The DPC Graduate Development Program is a two-year program and includes:
- A comprehensive induction to the Department and to Government processes
- A series of four-month rotations throughout the Department
- Substantial training and development opportunities
As a graduate you can expect to undertake a range of duties throughout your rotations. An example of some of these duties may be:
- Drafting correspondence, internal memos, briefing papers and reports
- Drafting Ministerial Briefings, Contentious Issues Briefings and Cabinet Submissions/Comments
- Responding to Parliamentary Questions
- Preparing discussion papers and recommendations
- Undertaking cross jurisdictional research and comparisons
- Participating in Departmental or Interdepartmental Committees
Conditions of Service
Graduates are initially employed on a 12-month fixed-term contract with a provision for permanent appointment following the successful completion of that year.
Graduates are employed at Level 3 $58,010 to $62,984 per annum under the Public Sector and Government Officers General Agreement 2011.
- Salary on commencement will be $58,010 pa. plus 9% superannuation
Graduates are encouraged to apply for advancement opportunities arising within the Department towards the end of their second year. All promotions are based on merit.
