Welcome to the History section of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet's website. Below you will find an outline of the events and issues that have shaped the development of the Department over the past 110 years.
The Department has undergone considerable change since its beginnings as an Office of only five members. Today the Department has approximately 600 full time equivalent officers, with the Department's responsibilities extending from Government administrative assistance to management of various different Offices and Services such as the Office of e-Government and the Constitutional Centre.
Whilst reading through the pages you will find links that will take you to websites containing detailed information on those topics. I hope these pages better your understanding of the role of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.
