DPC Graduate Development Program

Who are we looking for?

The Department requires people with a wide range of experience and is particularly interested in employing recent university graduates who enjoy working in a team environment, can adapt quickly to change and have excellent communication skills, initiative and determination. As future leaders in the public sector passion, commitment and a thirst for knowledge are essential.

Eligibility - To be eligible for our two program categories, applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have applied for Permanent Residency.

Graduates are sought in our two program categories in the following disciplines:

  • Business
  • Arts
  • Social Sciences
  • Political Science
  • Law
  • Management
  • Economics
  • Psychology
  • Other relevant disciplines

Stream 1 - Graduate Development Program – (4 year degree minimum eligibility)

To be eligible to apply, graduates must have recently completed a four-year degree, honours, double degree or higher, or will complete one of these qualifications in the year the positions are advertised.  Successful applicants will have achieved consistently high academic results and have limited work experience.

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet is an equal opportunity employer encouraging graduates from all diversity groups to apply. Our Equity and Diversity Plan 2006-2009 has identified graduates with disabilities; Indigenous Australians; and young graduates under the age of 25 as groups lacking in our current workforce and therefore applicants from these particular groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Stream 2 - Indigenous Australian Graduate Development Program – (3 year degree minimum eligibility) (Section 50(d) Equal Opportunity Act 1984)

To be eligible to apply, graduates must be Indigenous Australians and have recently completed a three-year degree or higher, or will complete one of these qualifications in the year the positions are advertised.  Successful applicants will have achieved consistent academic results and have limited work experience.
