Treaties

The Intergovernmental Relations Unit is Western Australia’s contact point for the national Standing Committee on Treaties. The Unit:

• Facilitates Western Australian participation in significant international treaty negotiations.
• Manages Western Australian Government input to national interest analyses of all treaties to be considered by the Commonwealth.
• Coordinates Western Australian Government submissions to the Commonwealth in support of Australia’s obligations under international instruments.
• Provides strategic input and support at key points of agency-specific treaty and national reform negotiations.
